Successful Three-Month Stay

Johns Creek, Georgia (metro Atlanta)

We visited Cuenca the previous year and stayed one month. For a return visit of three months, we were very meticulous in our selection. Our highest priorities were safety, good location, spaciousness, immaculate surrounding and a building with elevator.

All these requirements were met with some unexpected bonuses. First, the owner, Ryan, is very conscientious in a way we felt at home immediately. We were welcomed with a gift basket containing breakfast items, munchies, wine and flowers.

What's more, the apartment has every cleaning supply, cookware, and cooking ingredients imaginable, i.e., slow cooker, portable grill, etc. There were instances where we needed an ingredient only once and could count on it being in a cabinet.

And our extra-extra bonus was Debra, the property manager. We refer to her as "the best property manager on the planet" having rented on six continents. Her personal mission is to ensure the guests are going to be happy throughout their stay. She goes beyond, the walk-through and delivering the keys. Our experience with her was very personalized.

We spent six nights away from the property - three in Montanita and three in Vilcabamba with no worries which highlights our choice to rent this apartment was an excellent one!!

“Modern Spacious Luxurious Apt, 6 Blks to El Centro”

Lovely Loft near City Center

We rented this Loft at the last second and appreciate the effort that the owner's and Dano made in order for us to be able to stay here. The loft is very well appointed and nicely decorated. Though my husband and I don't really cook the kitchen had everything one would need to be able to make anything they desired. I did use the gas stove top to make eggs. Not only is this a large gas stove top but it had an oven. That is not the case in several of the apartments around town. The loft sat a block off the main roads in a secure building with a guard and elevator. It even has a parking garage which we did not use. I walked to the Parque Madre every morning. It was a 10 minute walk and the park is great. It sits on the river in New City. The bridge and stairs to get to old city center is 5 blocks away. No more than a 10-minute stroll. My husband ended up going to the doctor while we were in the loft. The loft was very convenient to several doctor offices, the Saint Inez clinic and testing facilities.

Perfect location for our stay in Cuenca!!!

Ryan and Ron's condo is a very spacious two level apartment outfitted with everything you need, except groceries (but he’s got you started with spices, cooking oil, coffee/tea, paper towels, etc!!!!). It’s located just 6 flat blocks from the river and El Centro. Just one block away is a grocery store in one direction and in the other direction the principal location for easily catching a bus or taxi (less than $2 to El Centro). Also nearby are an array of restaurants, a liquor store, and medical facilities. The owners arranged for their local property manager (Dano) to pick us up at the airport and he was standing right there when we walked out of baggage claim. He drove us to the apartment and gave us an orientation of how things worked, what was nearby, and patiently answered our myriad of questions. Ryan and Ron provide a cell phone for local use and the ability to reach Dano if we had any questions (which we did) or issues (which we didn’t). The apartment is very clean, modern, with nice artwork, comfy queen bed, large closets, and 1 ½ bathrooms (one on each level). There’s even a significant library of DVD’s (movies and TV shows) that kept us entertained when we stayed in for the evening and/or if it was raining outside. It was nice to be able to cook meals every once in a while instead of eating out all the time. Their kitchen is well-stocked with all the mini-appliances and a full-size refrigerator and 6-burner stove. You can’t go wrong at his price! Thank you Ryan and Ron!!

What a Fantastic Find!

My wife and I stayed in Ryan's lovely ultra-clean Cuenca apartment for one month while travelling through Ecuador. We had intended to use it as a "home base" from which to travel and explore, but the place was so comfortable that we ended up travelling away for only short periods. I'm 70 years old and my legs aren't what they used to be, but it's close enough to the old city (el Centro) that we walked there nearly every day we were there. My wife loves to cook, so she appreciated the fully equipped and very functional kitchen (which helped to defray eating-out costs). There was absolutely nothing not to like. And if that wasn't enough, Ryan's friendly and very knowledgeable apartment "helper" Dano picked us up at the airport AND dropped us off there on our way home. The "bible" that was left on the counter was chock full of information, everything from how to use the appliances to best places to eat or shop, and everything in between. If there was anything we wanted to know, it was in the "bible". We planned our next trip to Peru, but if this apartment is available when we make our next trip, we just might go back to Cuenca!
